New Line Making Speedy Gonzales Movie
New Line/Warner Bros. is developing a big screen version of "Speedy Gonzales," to be voiced by George Lopez.
Garfield writers Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen will adapt the classic animated Looney Tunes character into a live-action/CG hybrid feature. The movie will reportedly take place in present day.
Lopez, Anne Lopez and Lynette Ramirez are producing for George Lopez Presents, along with Ocean's Eleven producer Jerry Weintraub, Tracy Ryerson and Jill Arthur.
Known as "The Fastest Mouse in all Mexico," there have been 46 cartoons made either starring or featuring the character.
"Speedy's going to be a misunderstood boy who comes from a family that works in a very meticulous setting, and he's a little too fast for what they do," said Anne Lopez. "He makes a mess of that. So he has to go out in the world to find what he's good at."
That path becomes clearer once Speedy befriends a gun-shy race-car driver.

Canon posts firmware update for Rebel TLi / EOS 500D
Canon has posted a firmware update for its Rebel TLi / EOS 500D digital SLR. Version 1.1.0 brings improvements to live view shooting and fixes bugs in the English, Arabic and Swedish language menus. The firmware is available for immediate download from Canon's website.

Fashionista Jason Wu Brings Expertise To Digital Cameras
Jason Wu, the designer who has worked with Michelle Obama, Natalie Portman, and Drew Barrymore, is bringing his fashion expertise to the world of digital cameras.
The "Create by Jason Wu" collection, which was unveiled at the PMA 2010 convention, is comprised of multiple camera with custom metal and leather covers, selected by Wu. From the technical spec standpoint, the Create devices have camcorder capabilities, seamless menu systems, 12 megapixels, built-in memory, and a retractable USB plug.
"Our in-depth research told us that consumers ultimately want simplicity when buying a digital point-and-shoot camera," said General Imaging VP Paul Meyhoefer. "Jason [Wu] brought a sense of fashion to these cameras and gave them aesthetic appeal, which in conjunction with our technical expertise for ease-of-use makes this collection a major departure from anything else in the market."
4GB and 8GB units will be available for around $180 and $230, respectively. Both versions come with a 2.7" LCD screen and are available in white, black, gold, red, yellow, blue, or green. Accessory collections chosen by Wu will come packed-in as well.
General Imaging is the company that creates digital cameras under the "General Electric" brand. The Create collection will be available on March 16 exclusively through HSN, and then will branch out to other retailers.
GE Unveils Waterproof G5WP Camera
General Imaging, the worldwide licensee of GE digital cameras, today unveiled its complete 2010 line-up, including the G5WP, an underwater-safe digital camera with video recording capabilities.
The G5WP will launch under GE's "Active Series" of cameras. It boasts a 12.2 megapixel lens and 4X internal zoom. With its metal construction and rugged design, it is waterproof up to 5 meters.
The G5WP will be available in "late Q2" in graphite gray, raspberry red, and ocean blue. It will hit stores with a suggested retail price of around $180.
GE Intros 'Power Pro' Cameras, Announces X5, E1486TW, and E1480W
General Imaging announced two new cameras to complement its "Power Series," the E1486TW, and E1480W, as well as the first one to its Power Pro Series, the X5.
As the defining camera of GE's new Power Pro Series, the X5 features optical image stabilization, a 15X zoom, and ISO 3200. The camera comes with a 28mm lens and will be available in the retail market in the second quarter of this year. The suggested retail price is around $150.
GE is also showcasing the E1486TW and E1480W cameras at this year's PMA show, which it first introduced at CES.
Both cameras, which will be added to the company's existing "Power Series" line, have HD video recording functionality, 14 megapixel resolution, and a 3-inch LCD screen. The slim devices are only 0.83 inches thick. The E1486TW (pictured) will be available within the next month for around $180, while the E1480W will come out next quarter at an SRP of around $150.

Sigma introduces DP2s large sensor compact
The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new Sigma DP2s compact digital camera featuring a 14 megapixel FOVEON X3® direct image sensor (2,652× 1,768× 3 layers).
The Sigma DP2s is the successor to the DP2 which was introduced to market in April 2009 and incorporates a new AF algorithm, a Power Save Mode and a new rear design. The new AF algorithm provides high speed auto focusing, ensuring convenient shooting. The Power Save Mode lowers the battery consumption. When this mode is enabled, a greater number of pictures can be taken with a single charge of the battery. The new rear design aids quick recognition of the controls. The addition of red markings has been used to enable easier operation of the cameras controls.
The latest RAW image processing software, “SIGMA Photo Pro4.0″, is supplied with the DP2s and makes processing RAW images quick and easy. Version 4.0 has a superior image processing algorithm and improved compatibility with multi core CPU’s. It provides better image processing speed and improved image quality. Incorporation of a new noise reduction algorithm reduces Chroma and Luminance noise when processing X3F files taken at ISO400 or more. It is possible to adjust the level of reduction for noise just by moving the slider in the control pallet. With the Macintosh version, functions such as JPEG conversion and batch white balance settings, which were previously incorporated into Windows versions, have been added. In addition, the print function and the display speed for the review window and thumbnails have also been improved.
Many dedicated accessories such as the VIEW FINDER VF-21, HOOD ADAPTER HA-21 and ELECTRONIC FLASH EF-140 DG are available for the DP2s.
Sigma announces DP1x compact camera

The AQ100 and the SL605 will be on display during PMA 2010, February 21-23, in the Samsung booth, #2227, in the Anaheim Convention Center.

AQ100
Offering extraordinary capabilities, the slim (0.78” thick) AQ100 was developed for use in up to 10 feet of water and thanks to the camera’s exceptional low-light performance, it’s capable of taking bright images at that depth. Whether taking photos of friends and family in the pool or a school of fish while snorkeling in the ocean, users will benefit from the AQ100’s dedicated Aqua mode, which will optimize camera settings for the best possible underwater photos.
A powerful camera on land or in water, the AQ100 boasts an ample, 5x optical inner‑zoom lens complete with Digital Image Stabilization to help reduce blurry images. Additionally, the AQ100 features a bright, 2.7‑inch TFT-LCD screen for framing and reviewing images.
In addition to taking beautiful still images, consumers can also record impressive 720p HD video above or below the water. The AQ100 offers image stabilization while recording video and for complete simplicity, it has Smart Auto (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology which fine tunes both video and picture settings for the best possible results. All the users have to do is point and shoot.
SL605
The new SL605 was designed with durability in mind, and offers consumers Samsung’s Anti‑scratch Mask, which safeguards the camera from any unwanted scratches during everyday use. Furthermore, key areas of the Samsung SL605, including the bottom, buttons and areas surrounding the 2.7-inch TFT-LCD (230,000 pixel), are rubberized to further protect the camera from elements such as dust, dirt or sand.
Beyond its durability, users will also benefit from the Samsung SL605’s internal 27mm wide‑angle, 5x optical zoom lens, which gives them the ability to take sharp and detailed images from any distance. With a wide-angle lens at their fingertips, users will be able to capture more of a desired scene, such as landscapes or large groups of friends and family. The SL605 offers standard definition, VGA video recording and also features Samsung’s intuitive and easy-to-use Smart Auto scene recognition technology.
Samsung has also incorporated a Smart Night Mode in the new SL605, which will allow consumers to capture sharp, properly exposed images when shooting at night. Typically, a flash can be too bright and wash out one’s subject when used in low-light or night-time settings, ruining what could have been a great image. With Samsung’s new Smart Night Mode, this is no longer an issue as consumers can now increase or decrease the power of the flash to ensure the perfect shot, the way they want, each and every time.
