Canon posts firmware update v1.1.0 for EOS 60D

Canon has posted a firmware update for its EOS 60D digital SLR. Firmware Version 1.1.0 incorporates the following fixes and improvements.
  • Fixes a phenomenon where the wireless built-in flash settings are reset to defaults when the battery is removed from the camera.
  • Fixes an intermittent phenomenon where image-rotation information is not recognized correctly when shooting with the camera in the vertical position depending on the timing of the shutter release.

Nikon releases firmware update for D3100

Nikon has released a firmware update for the D3100 digital SLR that addresses a significant list of bugs and errors. Firmware v1.01 rectifies errors relating to autofocus, playback and noise reduction. This includes the reduction of a magenta cast at the bottom of still images captured at high ISO settings after using live view or movie shooting for a long period. Canon updates firmware for EOS 60D

Canon has released a firmware update for its EOS 60D mid-level DSLR. Firmware v1.0.8 fixes a phenomenon in which captured images may become overexposed when using the camera’s built-in flash or an external Speedlite in combination with the lenses listed below:

  • EF300/4 L IS USM
  • EF28-135/3.5-5.6 IS USM
  • EF75-300/4-5.6 IS USM
  • EF100-400/4.5-5.6 L IS USM

Canon EOS 7D Firmware Update Version 1.2.3

Canon EOS 7D Firmware Update Version 1.2.3 is now available.

Firmware version 1.2.3 incorporates the following fixes.

1. Fixes a phenomenon in which the settings of the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 revert to the default settings when both the camera and the ST-E2 are set to auto power off.

2. Fixes a phenomenon in which the Macro Ring Lite (MR-14EX, MT24-EX) and slave flashes do not sync while shooting wirelessly.

Canon EOS 550D Firmware Update Version 1.0.9 is now available.

Firmware version 1.0.9 incorporates the following fixes.

Canon posts firmware update for EOS 7D digital SLR

Canon has posted a firmware update for its EOS 7D digital SLR. Firmware v1.2.2 fixes AF point selection and display bugs occuring under specific shooting conditions, and also addresses an error in movie mode. It also corrects misspellings in the Spanish and Thai language menus. The firmware is available for immediate download from Canon's website.

Canon releases firmware updates for EOS 1D Mark IV and EOS 550D

Canon has released firmware updates for its EOS 1D Mark IV and EOS 550D digital SLRs. Firmware v1.0.8 for both cameras fixes a bug in the movie mode. The update for the EOS 1D Mark IV also corrects misspellings in the French and Spanish language menus. The latest versions are available for immediate download from Canon's website.

Canon 5D Mark II Firmware Update Version 2.0.7


Canon has posted EOS 5D Mark II Firmware Version 2.0.7

This firmware update (Version 2.0.7) incorporates the following improvements and fixes.

1. Fixes a phenomenon in which the aperture exhibits abnormal movement when shooting movies in manual exposure mode and Aperture Priority AE (Av mode) using some Canon lenses (such as macro lenses).

2. Fixes a phenomenon in which the exposure level shown in the LCD panel differs from what is shown in the viewfinder when shooting still images in manual exposure mode.

3. Fixes a phenomenon in which the Wireless File Transmitter (WFT-E4 or WFT-E4 II) may not automatically power off when used for FTP transfers.

These phenomenon only occur with the Version 2.0.4 and Version 2.0.3 firmware.

The Version 2.0.7 firmware being released this time is for cameras with firmware up to Version 2.0.4. If the camera's firmware is already Version 2.0.7, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Canon posts firmware update for EOS 7D

Canon has posted a firmware update for its EOS 7D digital SLR. The new firmware version 1.2.1 includes the following updates and fixes:

  • Extends the timing at which the high temperature warning indicator is displayed and the timing of automatic shut down of the camera due to a rise in internal temperature during Live View or EOS Movie functions.
  • Optimizes program shift when the ISO setting of the camera is set to AUTO.
  • Corrects a misspelling in the French-language menu.
  • Corrects a phenomenon in which vertical magenta-colored banding appears in still images taken in movie-shooting mode.(This only occurs when in Manual exposure mode and when the ISO speed is set to “H”. Note that this phenomenon only affects units with Firmware Version 1.2.0)

Canon releases new firmware for three cameras, transmitter

Canon has released the following firmware updates:


The Mark III bodies gain support for the WFT-E2 II wireless file transmitter that was released in December 2009.

The 5D Mark II improvements and fixes are:

"1. Supports the WFT-E4 II wireless file transmitter that was released in December 2009."

"2. Corrects a phenomenon in which visible noise may appear in images taken by continuous Bulb shooting."

"Firmware Version 2.0.0 supports the use of the WFT-E2 / E2A wireless file transmitter with the EOS-1D Mark IV digital SLR camera. If you are using the WFT-E2 / E2A with the EOS-1D Mark III or EOS-1Ds Mark III, you do not need to update the firmware."

EOS 50D Firmware Update Version 1.0.7

Canon have just released Firmware v1.0.7 update for Canon EOS 50D.

Firmware Version 1.0.7 incorporates the following changes.

1.Corrects a phenomenon where captured images may tend to appear somewhat magenta depending on the shooting scene.

2.Fixes incorrect indications on the Arabic, Romanian, Spanish, and Ukrainian menu screens.

Firmware Version 1.0.7 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.6. If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.0.7, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

Canon updates firmware for EOS 50D, 450D & 1000D

Canon has released firmware updates for its 50D, 450D and 1000D digital SLRs. Firmware versions 1.0.6, 1.1.0 and 1.0.5 for EOS 50D, Rebel XSi (450D) and Rebel XS (1000D) respectively, support the AF assist beam feature of Canon's latest Speedlight 270 EX flashgun. Additionally, the 50D update rectifies other issues including vertical banding noise.

EOS 50D users are also advised to update the Digital Photo Professional, Picture Style Editor, ZoomBrowser EX and ImageBrowser software to the latest versions.
