Jackson 'best daddy' says daughter

Michael Jackson's daughter broke down in tears as she paid an emotional tribute to her father at the public memorial to the star.

Paris Michael Katherine, 11, told the thousands who had gathered at LA's Staples Centre that her daddy was the best one a girl could imagine.

After the short statement, her aunt Janet Jackson embraced the youngster as tears rolled down her face. As she did so, members of the audience joined her in crying for the late King of Pop.

As the two-hour show came to a close, the Jackson family gathered on stage. One by one, the singer's siblings paid tribute to their brother.

But it was his daughter's words that brought out the strongest emotional response inside the auditorium.

"Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine and I just wanted to say I love him so much," the 12-year-old said through tears.

It was a rare public appearance for any of Jackson's children, whose privacy has been closely guarded by the family.

Paris Michael is the second of Jackson's two children with Debbie Rowe. She is the sister of Prince Michael, 12, and half-sister to seven-year-old Prince Michael II. Her two brothers were also at today's public memorial.

Alongside having to deal with the death of their father, Jackson's children could soon be the subject of a legal battle.

Jackson's mother Katherine has been granted temporary custody of the three. But Ms Rowe has indicated that she wants to contest the ruling and attempt to win back custody of her two children with the pop star.
