Carl Zeiss announces Distagon T* 2/25 for Canon and Nikon
Carl Zeiss presents the Distagon T* 2/25 ZE and ZF.2 moderate wide-angle lenses. The large image angle allows photographers to capture exciting perspectives. With its excellent imaging quality at all aperture settings, the lens flexes its muscles particularly for photo documentaries in interior rooms where space is at a premium, as well as for pictures of objects, architecture and landscapes. In many situations, a flash is an unwelcome feature — at family gatherings, in a museum or in a church for example. To capture the mood in such places, photographers gladly do without aggressive lighting and instead work with particularly high-speed lenses that enable short exposure times even under difficult lighting conditions.
The optical experts have now virtually eliminated the chromatic aberrations on these lenses through a special design and selection of materials. Selected types of glass and two aspheric surfaces prevent color fringes from appearing on high-contrast edges. "The Distagon T* 2/25 elegantly combines a compact design with a large initial aperture," explains Christian Bannert, Senior Director of Product Development in the Camera Lens Division at Carl Zeiss AG.
Lens elements meticulously crafted to minimize stray light and reflections in the lens, and the Carl Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating to increase light transmission enable high-contrast image rendition and color saturation.
The previously available Distagon T* 2,8/25 ZF.2 will continue to be on stock and supplements the new Distagon T* 2/25. Therefore, this new lens is also the first 25-mm lens of Carl Zeiss for the EF-bayonet.
The Distagon T* 2/25 will be available end of 2011 at a recommended retail price of €1217 (excluding VAT).

TechXpo 2011 - Day One
Brunei's second edition of premier technology exposition-the four-day TechXpo 2011 - saw its opening ceremony yesterday officiated by the Minister of Communications (MinComm), Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
Also present at the launch were Permanent Secretary at the MinComm, Dato Paduka Hj Awg Alaihuddin bin POKDGSL Dato Seri Mama Haji Mohd Taha, the Chairman of InfoCom Federation Brunei, Abd Ghani Pg Hj Metussin, Executive Director of Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd, Dato Paduka Haji Danial bin Haji Hanafiah, Sunlit's Managing Director, Jackson Ting, and the organiser of the TechXpo 2011.
Following the opening ceremony, the minister went on a tour of the exposition, which features approximately 60 companies from across the Sultanate and other countries including Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore; offering visitors a wide range of IT and IT-related products and services ranging from educational tools and automation systems to healthcare products and domestic appliances.
An array of additional activities on the side have been arranged to fascinate the visitors that comprise all ages. Some of these activities include the `Incrediworld Amazement Park' featuring many attractions designed to entertain and educate; 'Amazing Animal Facts', a gallery of optical illusions.
Visitors can also lose themselves in the hall of mirrors found at the 'Mirror Maze', which is designed to confuse and manipulate visitors into feeling as if they are in an endless maze of twists and turns. In addition, visitors who purchase entrance tickets for this activity are eligible for participation in the lucky draw.
Meanwhile, the e3 Robots also lead to a variety of activities such as the 'Robo Circle', 'Lego Mindstorms' and `RoboRobo' as well as workshops focusing specifically on robot technology.
Despite being open to all, the robot section of the exposition is geared towards attracting students to this latest field of study.
Visitors also have the option to partake in free hands-on computer training sessions offered by TechOne Global and Microsoft, which are facilitated by IT experts and utilises the 100 available computers at the hall.
Also open to members of the public are the daily presentations from exhibitors showcasing their products and services in greater depth and detail.
The TechXpo will see business-matching take place tomorrow (October 29) where trade visitors will be able to meet with their local counterparts with the aim of expanding business networks and forging potential partnerships.
The exposition, which is supported by the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Communications, the Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam and Institut Teknologi Brunei, will come to an end on October 30.
There is no entrance fee for the 10am to lOpm event and for the convenience of visitors there is a shuttle bus service running between the Indoor Stadium and the ICC.

Pusat Ehsan "My Ability Counts" Campaign
In further celebrating the artistic abilities of the special needs individuals, the 'My Ability Counts' campaign by Pusat Ehsan received an encouraging response from members of the public at the Ground Floor of The Mall, Gadong yesterday.
The campaign, which followed its previous event dubbed 'Stall in Mall' earlier this year, returned with more vibrancy to showcase the organisation's significant initiatives in demonstrating the various skills of its members to the society.
Their performances reflected their potential to work in real-life situations under controlled environment and with the campaign, provided an opportunity for the special needs individuals to increase their confidence and self-esteem by performing a number of songs and dance routines on the stage in front of the public.
The guest of honour was Datin Hjh Norlina binti Hj Abu Bakar. Also in attendance were Javed Ahmad, Managing Director of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, Awang Hj Shahrin bin Ibrahim, Manager of The Mall, Dato Paduka Mohd Alimin bin Abdul Wahab, Acting Chairman of Board of Trustee, Pusat Ehsan and members of the Board of Trustee.
In a welcoming speech, Lovela Depala, Programme Coordinator (Early and Middle Years) said, "Since its official opening in 2000, Pusat Ehsan has occupied a prominent role in meeting the needs of the individuals with disabilities in Brunei Darussalam.
"Pusat Ehsan aims to provide a wide range of services ranging from early intervention and skills training for children with special needs, vocational training to rehabilitation services - aimed to develop and further improve the abilities and skills of the individuals with special needs in Brunei," she said.
The campaign, she added, aimed to send a clear message that Pusat Ehsan is dedicated to highlight the talents of the special needs individuals.
"There is no doubt that there are decent job opportunities for individuals with special needs in Brunei, and they may need that extra bit of assistance or consideration to get them started," she said.
With hopes to provide an opportunity for them to feel accepted and develop a sense of positive contribution to society, the campaign was based on donations from various government and private bodies.
