Nikon UK today unveils two new compact cameras to join its COOLPIX line-up. The duo consists of the S1100pj with integrated projector, the successor to the award-winning S1000pj, and the S5100, a versatile shooter with specialist technologies to ensure stunning shots even in low-light conditions.
The COOLPIX S1100pj sees Nikon again redefining the way people share their photos, videos, and even presentations with the inclusion of an integrated projector, offering enhanced picture quality and the ability to connect directly to a computer. Meanwhile, the COOLPIX S5100 features four technologies for beautiful night shots, including lens-shift type VR (Vibration Reduction), high sensitivity with low noise up to ISO 3200, enhanced Motion Detection, and a new flash control system. Both new models feature NIKKOR precision lenses, Nikon EXPEED C2 digital image processing, and include legendary Nikon features designed to capture the highest quality images.

COOLPIX S1100pj – Changing the way we share our photos
The S1100pj is the successor to the award-winning S1000pj, the world’s first camera with an in-built projector, and allows new ways of image viewing and sharing, without the need for additional equipment or having to crowd round the camera’s LCD display. At 14 lumen, the projector is 40% brighter than its predecessor, enabling projection in new situations such as in lighter rooms or against lighter surfaces. It can also be linked to your PC or Mac so stored pictures or presentations can be shown instantly through the projector.
Boasting a 14.1 megapixel sensor, a wide-angle 5x zoom NIKKOR lens, and 7.5 cm (3.0 inch) extra high resolution (460K-dot) touch-screen LCD monitor for intuitive touch control, the S1100pj is not just a fancy gadget but is a typically high-quality Nikon camera. To ensure crisp photographs every time, the camera contains five functions to reduce image blur, while convenient modes such as Easy Auto mode and Smart Portrait System mean you don’t have to worry about choosing the right setting for your shot, leaving you to focus on getting just the right picture.
The S1100pj also introduces a range of retouch features so you can really get creative, including Fisheye effect, selective colour highlighting on an otherwise monochrome picture, and background softening, so you don’t have to go anywhere near a computer to edit your images. To liven up your slideshows you can use the built-in animations, background music or slide transitions. Finally, the Paint function means you can add handwritten annotations to your images, even while you are projecting them on a wall.

COOLPIX S5100 – stunning shots even in low-light conditions
The COOLPIX S5100 is a slim and stylish camera with 12.2 megapixels, which gives you high performance in any situation with its easy-to-use functions. Even at night, when images can be more difficult to capture, you can rely on getting clear, crisp pictures every time with lens-shift type VR (Vibration Reduction), enhanced Motion Detection, and a ground-breaking flash control system. The S5100 will detect if you are holding the camera, rather than using a tripod, and will automatically select the most appropriate settings to reduce image blur and make sure you capture beautiful pictures every time.
With improved response performance from the EXPEED C2 processing system you will never miss that perfect shot, even if your subject is moving. And if you want to capture more of the moment, then a dedicated video button allows you to quickly and easily record video in 720p HD quality. Although the S5100 incorporates a 5x zoom NIKKOR lens starting at wide-angle 28mm, the sporty, metal, rounded body design is only 21.6 mm (0.9-inch) thick so it will easily fit in a bag or pocket.
