Info :

  • SMARTER stand for Society for the Management of Autism Related in Training Education and Resources.
  • It was form and run by family of Autistic Individuals.
  • In Brunei alone there are over 400 autistic individuals as diagnose by Child Development Centre, Ministry of Health.
  • Every month there are newly diagnosed cases and the number is rising.
  • In SMARTER alone registered are about 83 individuals and the waiting list to join is growing.
  • Thus SMARTER cannot accept them due to facilities and short of Therapists and increase in Monthly expenses if to engage further Therapists.
  • SMARTER charge $120 per month per individuals but that is still not enough to cover monthly expenses. (Income versus Expenses)
  • SMARTER plan to move the new Building by middle of this year thus hopefully overcome the ''Waiting List''.

''Autism is a delayed developmental disability which is lifelong that prevents the individuals from properly understanding what they see, hear and otherwise sense. This results in difficulties in social relationship/interaction, communication and behaviour. Recent US studies show that 1 in every 150 individuals has a form of autism. There is currently no medical cure for Autism. It is hoped that sufficient therapy, training and education will prepare our students to function independently and interact with society enabling them to lead fulfilled lives.''
